What is a trade test and why is this so important when I apply for a job in a beauty salon or spa ?

The majority of companies in the beauty industry will conduct a trade test as part of the interview process when recruiting therapists. This is completely understandable given the specialist and practical nature of our profession. Salon owners or managers need to see how you work and are always looking for certain qualities let the Essex beauty training school help you bring out those needed qualities.

 

What treatments will they ask me to perform?

This will vary from salon to salon as it will depend on what their most popular treatments are but generally they will ask you to perform a wax, neck back and shoulder massage, nail polish generally a dark colour and the one that’s feared by most therapists new to the industry and a French polish.

 

What can Essex Beauty Training School do to help me do well in a trade test?

From as little a £170 we will provide you with models for the day on the treatments you wish to improve on the most and test you on them. After you have carried out each treatment we will give you feedback on how to improve and what was good about the treatments too. We will also give you a handbook of do’s and donts for a trade test interview.

 

The Interview Part

Before a trade test there will generally be an interview where questions can be fired at you and you really don’t know what to say especially when nerves get the better of you. Let us help you with this by having one of our team role play an interview with you and give you pointers on how to be the perfect interviewee.

Refresher Courses

 

We also offer refresher training too.   After completing our refresher training, you will leave feeling much more confident in your ability.

 

Training can be booked for 1/2 day a full day or longer if required. Please note refresher days are for therapists who already hold a professional qualification.
